Matamata Trackwork Tuesday 22 November 2016: Recorded by Dennis Ryan
22 Nov 2016

Hello M’Lady prepared for Friday’s Wellington Stakes at Otaki with an exceptional piece of work at Matamata this morning.

Galloping on the plough and with blinkers fitted, Hello M’Lady (K McQuade) was asked for a stern hitout and delivered with 1200m in 1:14.2, 1000m in 1:00.1 and a final 600m in 34.7. It was clearly the fastest gallop of the session and suggested another good performance by the Vicki Prendergast-trained filly, who remains a maiden despite her placings in strong age-group company.

Members of the Moroney-Gerard team with important engagements were in good form on the course proper, which was rated good with the markers out 23 metres. Wellington Stakes candidate No Fuss Gus (Cameron) and Avec Moi (Lammas), an entry for the Trevor Eagle Memorial at Ellerslie, were paired in solid work over 1000m in 1:04.7 and 600m in 37.

Stablemate Ali Baba (Coleman), who runs at Ellerslie on Saturday, was timed over his last 800m in 52 and 38.2.

Back on the plough, Ellerslie entries Chambord (Miller) and Royal Success (McNab) got through sound work over 1000m in 1:05.4, quickening for a final 600m in 36.2. Over the same ground stablemates Princess Davone (Lammas) and Vinevale (Cameron) had pace on throughout to record 1:02 and 36.3, while Otaki-bound Vanilla Moon (Hepi) and Ellerslie entry Sleeping Beauty (C Grylls) ran a smart 1:01.7 and 36.3.

Splurge (Miller) looked the part for the Otaki as he cut out 1000m in 1:04.5 and 36.5. Clarify (S McKay) and Mercury Rising (Farr) strode boldly over 1200m in 1:16, 1:01.7 and 36.5. Also over ground, Realta (Fraser-Hayes) and Pure Lorde (Gorham) prepared for Ellerslie when clocking 1:17.5, 1:02.9 and 37.2, while stablemate Mistrahma (Gorham) went solo in a smart 1:16.8, 1:02.1 and 36.3.

Makarska (Coleman) underlined her progress when working over 1000m in 1:02.4 and 600m in 36. Others to run 1000m included Capella (Dowling) in a deceptive 1:03.2 and 36.5, Good Lookin Gal (Gorham) 1:01.6 and 36.1, Lady Amadeus (Cameron) 1:05.8 and 39.6, Antonio Lombardo (Farr) and Barcelo (S McKay) 1:06.8 and 38, Miss Horotiu (C Grylls) 1:01.3 and 35.8, Secret Stash (Tynan) and Pacquiao (Fraser-Hayes) 1:03.7 and 37.5, and Whatz Occurring (W Hillis) 1:03 and 36.4.

Cote d’Or (C Grylls) looked bright in her work over 1:03.2 and 36.4, while Jane’s Secret (P Brosnan) and The Talisman (Miles) took 1:04.6 and 36.8, Fendalton (A Jones) 1:08.2 and 39.6, Ballychine (C Grylls) 1:07.3 and 37.6, Great Expectations (Gorham) 1:06.6 and 38.8, and Embeya (C Grylls) 1:06.8 and 37.5.

Joe Cargo (S Turner) prepared for Wanganui with 1200m in 1:23.8, 1:08.2 and 39.1. Lil Miss Waitoki (Cole) ran the same trip in 1:22.4, 1:06.4 and 37.3, while Panella (A Jones) clocked 1:20.7, 1:05.8 and 37.5.

Xtravagant (McNab) looked the part breezing over 800m in 56.3 and 41.2. Promising juvenile Princess Rihanna (C Grylls) went with recent debut runner-up Feisty Jane (Hepi) over 800m in 49.3 and 36.8.

On the all-weather track Lauberhorn (Tynan) and Four Degrees (Fraser-Hayes) were paired in smart work over 1000m in 1:02.5 and 36.4. Molly Pond (Cole) was kept to 1:07.2 and 40.3 over the same distance.
