Matamata Trackwork Tuesday 20th June 2017: Recorded by Dennis Ryan
20 Jun 2017

Sound Works shaped as a likely improver when she galloped stylishly at Matamata this morning in preparation for her Tauranga weekend assignment.

Working 20 metres out on a slow course proper, Sound Works (Rastrick) made the running at a steady rate for her companion Our Rose Royal (A Jones), cutting out 1000m in 1:10.5 and building momentum for a final 600m in 38.4.

Sound Works hit the line full of running and should strip at peak fitness at Tauranga, while Our Rose Royal did well to get up alongside her better performed workmate over the final stages.

On the plough Persuasive (S Weatherley) and Dragon Rio (Dowling) underlined their Tauranga prospects with as solid hitout over 1000m in 1:04 and 37.1. Lucky Feather (Cole) did similar work to return 1:04.8 and 37.6, while Heaven Forbid (W Hillis) did well to record 1:04.2 and 36.8.

Truman (Wratten), who is now with the Kelso stable, indicated his progress with a smart 1000m in 1:02.5 and 600m in 36.8. Tauranga entry Letmeby (Gorham) looked improved in his work over ground, with the 1200m covered in 1:20.3, 1:05.2 and 37.6.

Kiwifruit Cup candidate Gentil Tonton (S Weatherley) strode over the last 1200m of his work in 1:20.4 and 39.2, while Al Cajero (P Turner) covered the same ground in 1:20.4 and 36.9 and Dubai Shuffle (Gorham) clocked 1:20.8 and 38.2.

The Arabian Duke (K McQuade) a runner in the amateur race at Te Aroha on Sunday, hit out boldly over 1200m in 1:21.6, 1:06.3 and 38.2, and The Talisman (J Brosnan) took 1:25.5, 1:09.5 and 40.8.

Nothing Trivial (Danis) was timed over his last 1000m in 1:06.2 and 38.6, Embraceable You (P Brosnan) ran 1:06.6 and 39.2, and Makarios (Rastrick) 1:12.8 and 41.6.

Classic Command (N Turner) and Crackthegoodstuff (Woodill) were paired over 1000m in 1:08.9 and 39.3, while The Boy Wonder (Dellow) was well held over 1000m in 1:12.4 and 42.
