The Moroney/Gerard-trained gelding drops back to 1200 metres at Pukekohe this weekend and if his work is any guide he will take some beating.

Over the same ground So Modest (Grant) worked well to record 1:26.8 and 42, while Catrina (T Gillies), who will shoot for a double at Pukekohe, was well contained over 1200m in 1:34.2 and 43.6.

On the sand It’s a Kind Of Magic (P  Brosnan) and Diamond Heist (Miles) drew attention to their weekend prospects as they cut out a smart 1000m in 1:02.3 and 36.8.

Gumboots (Boyack) appeared to well after his last-start win as he strolled through 1000m in 1:10.1 and 42. Fortaleza (Rastrick) ran her 1000m in 1:09.1, quickening over the final section in 38.6.

Pukekohe entry Magic Cannon (M Brosnan) was timed over 1200m in 1:22.4, 1000m in 1:06.9 and 600m in 38.6. Our King Sway (Dowling) and Dragon Robe (Madan) were not extended over 1000m in 1:12.8 and 43.7.

On the all-weather track Amarula (S McKay) and Valante (R Jones) were paired in sharp work over 1000m in 1:00.8 and 35.4. Amarula has freshened well and may be a runner in next week’s Foxbridge Plate.

Stablemate Clarify (S McKay) also looked bright as he cut out 1000m in 1:02.8 and 35.8. Temple Tiger (Fawcett) completed striding work with 800m in 55.2 and 41.
