Dubai Shuffle and Letmeby prepared for their weekend engagements with solid work at Matamata this morning.

Galloping on a firm sand, Dubai Shuffle (Gorham) and Letmeby (Handley) worked over ground and picked up momentum to cover their last 1200m in 1:16.8, with the 1000m in 1:03.5 and the final 600m in 38. Dubai Shuffle will be entered for both Ruakaka and Awapuni on Saturday, while Letmeby will be an interesting runner when he makes his hurdle debut at Rotorua on Sunday.

It’s A Kind of Magic (P Brosnan) and Embraceable You (S McKay) did sound work over 1000m in 1:04.2 and 600m in 37.5, while Battle Royal (A Jones) and Debatable (Grant) ran the same distance in 1:04.4 and 37.7.

Master Poet (M Brosnan) looked fit as he strode over 1200m in 1:19.6, 1:05.2 and 38.8. Over the same ground Hot In High Heels (S Turner) took 1:21.2, 1:05.4 and 37.3. Watch This Space (K Hillis) appeared to have trained on well from his fresh-up Ruakaka win as he cut out 1000m in 1:06.5 and 37.6.

Volpe Veloce (Coleman) was well held over 1000m in 1:15.2 and 43.4 as she continued her preparation towards next week’s Windsor Park Plate. Stablemate Spree (Dowling) was also bold in her work over 1000m in 1:05.3 and 37.8.

Panella (Grant) and Miss Elegante (A Jones) were paired over 1000m in 1:08.8 and 39.2, while Irish Moon (S Weatherley) ran the same trip in 1:08.8 and 38.2, Cote d’Or (Wratten) 1:10 and 38.6, Galaxy Miss (Dowling) 1:08.6 and 38.6, Fontelina (Lammas) 1:11.2 and 42.6, and Aotearower (Wratten) 1:10.6 and 39.9.

Snapshot (Dowling), who is coming to hand well for Danica Guy, was unextended over 1000m in 1:10.5 and 39.6. Vanilla Moon (Coleman) was kept to 1:31.3 and 44.6 over 1200m, while Elettra (Wratten) was timed over her last 800m in 58.8 and 44.2.

Others allowed to stretch out over 800m included Cousteau (Pinn) in 54.8 and 40.5, Barnaby (Cox) 59.8 and 43.4, Madam Monica (Burdan) and Nucleonic (Lammas) 55 and 39.5. Princess Kekeru (Coleman) strode over 1000m in 1:13.5 and 42.6.
