04 Oct 2017

Gingernuts and Chance To Dance confirmed their readiness for Saturday’s Livamol Classic when paired in impressive work at Matamata this morning.

Galloping 18 metres out on a heavy course proper, Gingernuts (Bosson) and Chance To Dance (Pinn) set off at a steady rate and built momentum from the 1200m to run that distance in 1:22.8. Their last 1000m took 1:07.5 and they hit the line together full of running with a final 600m in 39.4.

Co-trainer Stephen Autridge was well satisfied with the stablemates’ final serious hitout ahead of the Hastings Group One. “That was decent work, just right,” he said. “They’re both ready for big runs.”

In similar work Gingernuts’ younger brother Griffin (Bosson) shaped well for the Hawke’s Bay Guineas when he and Te Rapa Friday maiden entry Bak Da Master (McNab) strode over 1200m in 1: 22.7, with their last 1000m taking 1:07.9 and the 600m 40.5.

Xbox (Coleman) prepared for the Guineas in company with Swiss Maid (Handley) over a well held 1000m in 1:11.2 and 41.5. Elettra (Wratten) turned in a smart trial for Te Rapa on Friday, setting off quietly to run 1000m in 1:10.8 and getting home impressively for a final 600m in 37.8.

Ivy’s Dream (Tynan), an entry for Te Awamutu on Sunday, and Hay Tiger (R Jones) finished their work well over 1000m in 1:09.6 and 39.6. Tiptronic (Gorham) and Incantesimo (Hasazume) strode over 1200m in 1:23, 1:08.5 and 41.7, while Te Rapa entry Aotearower (Wratten) went well in solo work over the same ground in 1:21.4, 1:07.2 and 40.3.

Hastings feature sprint entry Galaxy Miss (Dowling) was paired with Nomisma (Fawcett) over 800m in 54.1 and 600m in 39.7. Vinevale (Bosson) and Princess Davone (Tan) covered 1000m in 1:07.6 and 39.7, while Sarabande (J Collett) was timed over her last 800m in 55 and 40.2.

Te Rapa entry Cousteau (Bosson) went with Heroic Valour (McNab) over 1000m in 1:09 and 38.8, Asama Blue (J Ritchie) and Trois Vallees (S Collett) ran the same trip in 1:08.5 and 40, while Secret Stash (Handley) returned 1:10.2 and 40.8.

Pure Savalina (McNab) and Madam Monica (Lammas) also worked over ground, with their 1200m in 1:25.2, 1:09.2 and 40.4, and Sasanof’s Hero (Abel) and El Cajero (R Jones) took 1:27, 1:11.5 and 40.5.

Kariokka (Coleman) covered an easy 1000m in 1:13.8 and 42.7, and Rainbow Song (Ravi) followed in 1:13.6 and 42.4. Divine Ransom (Tierney) ran the same distance in 1:16.3 and 44.2, while Hot In High Heels (Lammas) was timed over her last 600m in 40.4.

On the all-weather track Watch This Space (S Weatherley) and Sure He Can (Lammas) were in good form over 1000m in 1:02.8 and 36.2. Watch This Space is in good order to chase a hat-trick in the feature Hastings sprint and his stablemate will run in the special maiden.

Livamol Classic entry Woodsman was ridden by his trainer Tony Gillies in tidy work over 1200m in 1:19.6, with his last 1000m in 1:04.8 and 600m in 37.8.

In steadier work Icebomb (McNab) covered 1000m in 1:10.5 and 40.2, Mahalo (Roff) 1:13.8 and 43.5, and More Than Fast (Bosson) 1:15.2 and 44. The Chaser (McNab) and a Reliable Man gelding (Bosson) were timed from the 800m in 54.2 and 38.5.
