Katie Perrie and Sarabande were in good form at Matamata this morning as they prepared for Ellerslie weekend engagements.
Galloping 20 metres out on a slow course proper, Katie Perrie (J Collett) and Sarabande (R Jones) were sent over ground and were timed from the 1200m in 1:18.2, with the last 1000m in 1:04.7 and 600m in 38.5. The Jim Collett-trained Katie Perrie is in solid order ahead of her attempt at a fourth straight win in Saturday’s Dunstan Stayers’ Qualifier.
Richardson/Parker stablemates Rocket Fuel (Handley) and Ambitious Showgirl (Hashizume) did sound work ahead of Saturday’s Trevor Eagle Memorial, cutting out 1000m in 1:06 and 600m in 38.2. Rocket Fuel brings string form into the three-year-old feature, having followed her Gold Trail Stakes third with a second placing to New Zealand 1000 Guineas winner Media Sensation in the Soliloquy Stakes at Ellerslie last month.
Master Painton (Newman) and Laaffaire (K Jones) were paired in bold work over 1000m in 1:07.5 and 38.2. In similar work Bocce (Bayliss) and Poppy O’Neill (Pilley) recorded 1:08.6 and 39;6, while Ellerslie entry Star Treasure (Yanagida) caught the eye over 1000m in 1:08.2 and 37.8.
Penteverest (Winters) and Man of the Woods (Coleman) were well held in their final work for Avondale on Thursday, leaving 1200m behind in 1:23.7, 1:09.3 and 40.4. Another for Avondale, Pinot Grey (Bosson), was timed over her last 1000m in 1:13.8 and 43.6.
Tiptronic (Handley) prepared for Saturday’s Eagle Technology Stakes with solo work over 1200m in 1:18.8 and 1000m in 1:04. Fog prevented any sectional timing, while it prevented any timing of the gallop by race rival Our King Sway, who worked with Otaki Friday entry Louis Luck. Others to emerge from the fog galloping strongly included Ellerslie entries She’s Not Bad and Probabeel.
Suspense (Hashizume) and La Mia Stella (Handley) were paired over ground and were timed from the 1200m in 1:19.6, 1:05.2 and 38.5, while Window Shopping (Fawcett) and Battle Royal (Yanagida) clocked 1:19.2, 1:06 and 39.8
