Folk Dress and Louis Luck shaped up well for Te Rapa on Saturday with a smart gallop at Matamata this morning.

Most work took place 18 metres out on a heavy course proper, when fog interrupted timing of some gallops.

The Jamie Richards-trained pair Folk Dress (C Grylls) and Louis Luck (Burdan) had early use of the track when they went together over 1000m in 1:07.5, finishing off with 600m in 38.3. Folk Dress goes into Saturday’s Waikato Veterinary Stakes on a hat-trick, while race rival Louis Luck should appreciate the step up to 1200 metres.

Last-start winner Ginger King (Coleman) was paired with weekend rival Byzantine (A Jones) over a well-run 1000m in 1:05.7 and 38.8. Chadsdale (Seivwright) and Kurt (S Collett) worked well ahead of their respective engagements at Pukekohe and Te Rapa with 1000m in 1:08.9 and 39.5.

Later in the session Te Rapa entry Paisley Park (S Collett) caught the eye when trailing Pacquiao (Wratten) before getting up alongside to complete 1200m in 1:22.8, 1:08.3 and 39.8. Katie Perry (R Jones) prepared for Te Rapa with sound work over 1200m in 1:20.4, 1:06.8 and 40.5.

Donna Imelda (Coleman) and Henry Hudson (Winters) were timed over the final 600m of their work in 38.5, while Salt Bay (McCall) completed striding work with a smart final section in 37.2. Hay Tiger (R Jones) handled the conditions well when working with Vermont (Coleman) over 1000m in 1:07.2 and 40.3.

Pukekohe entry Nerve Not Verve (McCall) strode over ground to run her last 1200m in 1:21.7, 1:07.6 and 40.4. Angelica (Wratten) and Rosa Fiore (Parma) covered the same ground in 1:21.4, 1:07.4 and 39.8, while Bak Da Master (Miller) and Al Haram (M Grylls) took 1:24.5, 1:09.6 and 40, Suliman (S Collett) and Letmeby (Singh) 1:23.4, 1:10.2 and 43.5, and Trentham entry Mariota (Newman) 1:21.5, 1:06.1 and 39.8.

Burgundy Belle (A Jones) and Ice Bomb (Kamaruddin) put plenty of dash into their work over 1000m in 1:05.9 and 39.5. Over the same distance Master Painton (Newman) worked well when recording 1:07.4 and 38.5, Fortune Patch (Yuto) took 1:09.8 and 39.5, Star Treasure (C Grylls) 1:10.2 and 39.9, Its a Kinda Magic (Newman) and Tav It Up (J Brosnan) 1:09.2 and 39.8, and English Rose (A Jones) and Lady Zeraph (Kamaruddin) 1:08.5 and 39.8.

Sheez Leica (C Grylls) was timed from the 800m in 53.2 and 39, while Yamuna (C Grylls) and Vittachi (S McKay) recorded 57.6 and 42.
