In-form stablemates Shoshone and Codecracker prepared for Ellerslie on Saturday with smart work at Matamata on Tuesday morning.

Shoshone (C Grylls) worked against the rail in the 12-metre position on the dead course proper, where she cut out 1000m in 1:03.2 and the last 600m in 36.8. The Ken and Bev Kelso-trained mare has trained on well from her last-start win and returns to Ellerslie this weekend.

Codecracker (C Grylls) did her solo gallop on the plough, working away from the 1200m mark to run the distance in 1:18.2, 1000m in 1:02.6 and the final section in 36.5. She too looks in good order for a return to Ellerslie, where she returned to form earlier this month.

Ellerslie-bound pair Escudo (Yanagida) and Cha Siu Bao (Hepi) put in a smart gallop over 1000m in 1:01.3 and 36.1, while In A Twinkling (Bosson) prepared for the weekend with well-held work over 1200m in 1:23.5, 1:08.3 and 40.5.

Iffraajinator (Tynan) got through a solid gallop, timed over the last 1200m in 1:20.3, 1:03.7 and 36.8. He looks fit for his staying test in the 3210m race at New Plymouth on Saturday.

Fog affected some timing, including Vainglory (S Weatherley) as she hit out well over 1000m in 1:05.2 and 800m in 51.5. She has come to hand well after a let-up. Salt Bay (McCall) was timed over 1200m in 1:22.3 and 1000m in 1:04.2, Aero De Paris (C Grylls) left 1000m behind in 1:06.5, and The Arabian Duke (K McQuade) ran his last 1200m in 1:23.8 and 39.9.

Back on the course proper 20 metres out, Jakkalbomb (Leighton) and Wild West (Pinn) were paired over 1000m in 1:05.4 and 38.6. Jakkalbomb runs at Ellerslie and Wild West at New Plymouth. On The Rocks (McCall) and Za Za Gabor (Reid) cut out 1000m in 1:04.4 and 37.2, while Dragon Queen (McCall) and Targhee (Reid) covered the same distance in 1:04.4 and 37.3.

Le Sablier (Tynan) galloped against the rail, finishing off well over 1200m in 1:23.2, 1:07.7 and 37.5.

On the No. 1 sand Bad ‘N’ Bouj (R Jones) and Iron Eagle (S McKay) left 1000m behind in 1:05 and 36.7. The Peter McKay-trained juveniles Wolfgang (S McKay) and King of Reds (S Collett) looked smart running in from the 600m in 36.8. They are likely runners in the first northern two-year-old race at Ellerslie.
