Te Rapa two-year-old feature candidates Synchronize and Noverre looked sharp as they prepared for weekend racing at Matamata on Tuesday morning.
Galloping on the plough, Synchronize (D Johnson) and Noverre (Bosson) strode into their work down the back straight and were timed from the 800m in 50.8, hitting the line full of running with a final 600m in 36.5. The Jamie Richards-trained Savabeel pair have both had a trial hitout since their last-start wins and are in very good order for Saturday’s Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre Stakes. With Opie Bosson riding this weekend at the Gold Coast, Jonathan Parkes has been engaged for Noverre.
Race rival Musigny Lass (C Grylls) did solo work on the No. 1 sand, where she was well held over 1000m in 1:08 and 39.2. The Katrina and Simon Alexander-trained filly appears to have done well since last month’s upset Te Rapa win.
Also on the No. 1 sand, Te Rapa entries Shoshone (S Collett) and Limentis (Winter) were paired in a smart 1000m in 1:03.8 and 36.4. Midnight Invasion (Leighton) ran the same distance in 1:05.5 and 38.4, while Henry Hudson (Winter) strode boldly over ground to complete 1200m in 1:18.2, 1:04.2 and 36.2.
On the course proper, where the going was dead, promising three-year-old Rabada (C Grylls) completed his work with 600m in 37.4. He holds entries for both Te Rapa and Sunday’s Woodville meeting. Te Rapa prospects Tommyra (Fawcett) and Teen Titan (Turner) ran a solid 1200m together in 1:20.6 and 38.2.
Back on the plough, Te Rapa rivals Lavaglo (McIntyre) and Yamuna (Pinn) were paired in impressive work over 1200m in 1:15.8, 1:02.4 and 36.8. They are coming to hand well. Last-start winner Je Suis Tiger (Fawcett) looked on-song for the main sprint at Te Rapa when cutting out 1000m in 1:04.9 and 36.8.
Woodville entry Mr Ghibson (McIntyre) and React (Newman) worked in good style over 1000m in 1:02.9 and 36.5, while The Panther (Bosson) ran the same distance in 1:04 and 37.5, Miracles Happen (Tynan) took 1:04.8 and 36.5, Prosperous (C Grylls) and Queen Constantine (Turner) 1:03 and 36.2, Cha Siu Bao (Yanagida) 1:04.8 and 38, and Highborn (D Johnson) and Rhapsody In Blue (Durrant) 1:04 and 36.8.
Bak Da Master (Roustoby) strode over 1200m in 1:18.5, 1:04.6 and 37.4 as he prepared for his return to hurdling at Te Rapa. The Mighty Spar (D Johnson) and Fort William (Farr) left 1000m behind in 1:03.8 and 37.6, while Romantic Lady (Kamaruddin) and Campionessa (T Harris) clocked 1:04 and 37.2, Sweet Molly Malone (Farr) 1:05 and 37.8, Soprano Supreme (Kamaruddin) and Zouluminous (T Harris) 1:04.2 and 37, and Feelin’ Fancy (T Harris) 1:06 and 39.8.
Paisley Park (Wratten) got through a soundly run 1200m in 1:16.2, 1:03.8 and 36.8. No Limits (Bosson) covered 1000m in 1:04.7 and 37.8, while Aurora Dolce (McCall) was well held over the same ground to record 1:15.2 and 43.8.
