MATAMATA

Paisley Park looked the part ahead of his weekend assignment in the Rotorua Cup when he galloped impressively at Matamata on Tuesday morning.

Working right-handed 20 metres out on a dead course proper, Paisley Park (Wratten) appeared to enjoy his hitout as he cut out the last 1200m in 1:25.9 and quickened readily for a final 600m in 38.5. The Richardson/Norvall-trained gelding is very bright and at a good position in the handicap for Saturday’s Arawa Park feature.

Race rival Voler Pour Moi (Kumagai) also worked well in her solo gallop, covering the last 1200m in 1:22.4 and 39.5. She has trained on well from her last-start second at Ellerslie.

Rotorua Stakes candidate Katie Perrie (R Jones) was paired with Landry (S Collett) in sound work over 1200m in 1:23.6 and 39.5, while Shebringsmerubies (T Harris) prepared for Rotorua in company with Matamata Friday entry Richard Of Yorke (Roustoby) over the same ground in 1:23 and 39.4.

Aero de Paris (Pretab) looked in good form for Friday as he completed his work with 600m in a smart 37.2. Others to be timed over the same distance included Highborn (T Harris) and Duby (Durrant) in 38.8, Bahir Emerald (Soloman), North Of Havana (Wratten) and Sir Allykhazann (S Singh) 39.5, Jakkalnuts (Yanagida) and Two Madison (Kumagai) 39.5, Cork (McCall) and Quartz Queen (Dellow) 39.4, Diamond Delight (S Collett) and The Bouquet Slayer (Farr) 39.2, and Patch Prince (Yanagida) 40.2.

Rotorua entry Superdonna (Miller) went with Matamata runner React (Newman), completing their work with 600m in 39.6. Over ground Champagne Princess (S Weatherley) and Soda (D Weatherley) completed 1200m in 1:26.5 and 39.2, while Alia Baba (Dellow) ran an even 1200m in 1:24.5 and 42.

On the No. 2 sand Ima Roca Bee (McCall) caught the eye over 1000m in 1:01.6 and 35.8. Miracle’s Happen (Tynan) was travelling strongly at the end of 1000m with Sassy Cat (Cox) in 1:05.2 and 36.2, while Woodcote Lass (C Grylls) returned 1:06 and 37.2. Cuba (Fawcett) wasn’t extended over 1200m in 1:27.6 and 40.8.

On the No. 1 sand Takeiteasy (H McQuade) left 1000m behind in 1:09.8 and 40.2.
