Image Of You and Pin Me Up shaped up well for Te Rapa on Saturday with eye-catching work at Matamata on Tuesday morning.

Galloping 22 metres out on a slow course proper, Image Of You (T Harris) and Pin Me Up (Durrant) were paired over 1000m in 1:05.5, with the final 600m in 37.2. It was an impressive hitout by the Jamie Richards-trained pair. Image Of You contests a Stella Artois Series qualifier at Te Rapa, where she has finished first and second in her two most recent appearances, while Pin Me Up is poised to clear maiden grade after second placings at her only two starts.

Paisley Park (Wratten) prepared for the open 1600 at Te Rapa with solo work over 1200m in 1:21.8, with the last 1000m in 1:06.2 and 600m in 37.8. The Richardson/Norvall-trained gelding has been in excellent form during the early stages of his preparation and is in good order for his weekend assignment. Highlighter (Yanagida) also impressed as she prepared for Te Rapa with 1200m in 1:21.4, 1:05.6 and 37.6.

Last-start winner Aotea Lad (Roustoby) and in-form maiden Outfit (M Grylls) shaped up well over 1200m in 1:21.2, 1:05.7 and 38. A pair of Awapuni-bound juveniles worked well, with Accidental Tourist (Bosson) and Jaffira (Kumagai) cutting out 800m in 52.5 and 37.4. Accidental Tourist finished third on debut last month, while Jaffira has placings from his only two trials. They were followed by Awapuni maiden entry She’s A Showoff (Kamaruddin) in similar time.

Cha Siu Bao (Yanagida) and Gone With The Wind (Reid) had first use of the track as they strode over 1200m in 1:22.9, 1:06.3 and 37.8, while Tia d’Or (Lammas) and Aurora Dolce (S McKay) ran the same distance later in the session in 1:22.9, 1:07.7 and 39. Pablo Casals (M Brosnan) worked by himself over 1200m in 1:21.4, 1:07.6 and 39.8.

Over 1000m Elle Ay Lady (J Collett) returned 1:05.2 and 40.6, Landry (Farr) took 1:08.7 and 40.4, Classico (Durrant) and High Borne (Amit) 1:07.4 and 37.3, Oxygen (Kumagai) 1:06.8 and 38.2, Prismatic (M Grylls) and I’m Not Bossy (Roustoby) 1:05.8 and 37.7, Dragon Queen (Yanagida) 1:06.6 and 39.3, Germanicus (Sanson) 1:08.2 and 40, Ifyourample (T Harris) 1:07.9 and 39, Light Brocade (Wratten) 1:10.8 and 40.2, and Initiate (Farr) and a Tavistock filly (Newman) 1:10 and 40.4.

Others allowed easier tasks included Our Alley Cat (Cox), who was well held over 1000m in 1:12.8 and 40.9, Les Crayeres (Lammas) 1:13.9 and 44.2, and Bahia Emerald (S Singh) and Zaffiro Belle (Wratten) 1:12.2 and 40.

On the No. 1 sand Te Rapa entries Imelda Mary (Hillis) and Side Hustle (Leighton) cut out 1000m in 1:07.6 and 37.8, while Mighty Connor (Joyce) and The Uprising (S McKay) were timed over their last 800m in 50.8 and 37.4.

On the No. 2 sand Seafoam (Prendergast) shaped up well over 1000m in 1:03.8 and 36.3. Virtuoso Lad (Tynan) was timed over 1000m in 1:05.8 and 38.2, while fellow Te Rapa entry Thunder (P Turner) took 1:07.2 and 37.8.

Dennis Ryan
