Bonecrusher NZ Stakes prospects Tiptronic and Amarelinha looked on target for the Ellerslie weight-for-age feature when they galloped at Matamata on Tuesday morning.

On the plough Tiptronic (S Singh) strode into his work from the top of the straight and was timed from the 1200m in 1:18.9, building momentum for 1000m in 1:03.3 and full of running over his last 600m in 35.7. It was very good work by the hardy veteran, who will be out to claim his third Group One wfa 2000m on Sunday.

Amarelinha had raceday jockey Opie Bosson on board when she and fellow Ellerslie entry Aquaoir (Newman) were paired in a solidly run 1200m in 1:16.5, with the last 1000m in 1:01 and 600m in 35.4. Amarelinha is ready for the step up to 2000m, while Aquaoir is in good order for the Royal Descent Stakes.

Karaka Million winner Dynastic (Bosson) shaped up well for Sunday’s Sistema Stakes when he and Cote de Beaune (Parmar) were paired over 1000m in 1:04.6, quickening impressively over the last 600m in 36.8. Dynastic thrived during a short let-up, as did Cote de Beaune, who will be on a hat-trick when he returns to Trentham on Saturday.

Matamata Slipper winner Alabama Gold (C Grylls) was not after time in preparation for the Sistema Stakes when he and Silverdale Chief (B Grylls) ran 1000m well on the bridle in 1:05.9 and 37.2.

Star sprinter Levante (Lammas) was also well contained in her final gallop ahead of her flight to Melbourne for Saturday’s Newmarket Handicap, striding over 1000m in 1:09.4 and 38.2. She is in capital order for her Flemington assignment.

On the course proper, where the going was good 23 metres out, Auckland Cup favourite Sound (Lammas) followed his normal pattern with consecutive pieces of striding work over 1000m, the second of which he cut out in 1:07.4. No sectional splits were possible due to poor light, but the veteran stayer impressed with the way he finished off his two hitouts.

Also on the course proper, Tia d’Or (Lammas) and Shimmering (Yanagida) worked well ahead of their respective Ellerslie and Pukekohe assignments, hitting out boldly over 1200m in 1:18 and maintaining their momentum for a final 1000m in 1:04.8 and 600m in 38.2.

Dragon Queen (Yanagida), who runs in the fillies and mares’ 1600m at Ellerslie, was accompanied by the unraced trial placegetter Wonderstruck (Sanson) over a well-held 1200m in 1:25.9, 1:09.2 and 40.4.

Back on the plough, Trentham entry Quattro Quinta (Bosson) and Pukekohe maiden candidate Kai (Roustoby) hit out boldly over 1000m in 1:03.2 and 36. Over the same ground Maison Roxanne (J Ritchie) didn’t waste any time when clocking 1:02.5 and 35.8, Seafoam (Cox) took 1:08.2 and 37.6, Monza (Sanson) 1:06.6 and 37.8, and Phantom Witness (Bosson) 1:07.2 and 38.8.

Savage Katie (Cole) and Diosa Luna (Newman) drew attention to their Pukekohe prospects when paired over 1200m in 1:20.4, 1:04.6 and 36.8. Fabe Dia (Leighton) got through solo work over the same ground in 1:22.4, 1:07.2 and 39.6, while Futaie (Farr) ran the same trip in 1:20.8, 1:05.2 and 37.6.

Les Crayeres (Lammas), who runs next at Trentham on Saturday week, worked steadily over 1200m in 1:24.8 and 41.8. Cacofonix (Leighton) continued his Levin Classic preparation with a well-held 1000m in 1:14.8 and 44.5, Canny Man (C Grylls) took 1:13.8 and 43.2, Rosberg (Yanagida) 1:11.8 and 39.4, and Oxygen (Pratap) 1:13.2 and 42.8. Astron (Farr) and Anise (Newman) were timed from the 800m in 49.8 and 37.
