Trentham feature race candidates were the centre of attention at Matamata on Tuesday morning, with a number of them indicating their readiness for further success.

On the plough New Zealand Oaks pair Self Obsession (McNab) and The Perfect Pink (Durrant) worked over ground and were timed from the 1200m in 1:19.4, building momentum as they went for a final 1000m in 1:04.9 and 600m in 37.2. It was sound work by the Jamie Richards-trained fillies.

Race rival Glory Bound (C Grylls) also strode over ground and was timed over 1200m in 1:18.2, picking up stablemate Perfectly Suited (B Grylls) at the 1000m mark. The Autridge/Shailer-trained pair covered their last 1000m in 1:03.5 and finished off strongly with a final 600m in 36.5.

Glory Bound is in excellent order for the Oaks, while Perfectly Suited, a debut winner last month, runs in the juvenile race at Trentham.

Levin Classic entries Cacofonix (S Weatherley) and Mohawk Brave (Parmar) covered 1200m in 1:19.6, with the last 1000m in 1:04 and 600m in 36.8. The Richards stable will have strong representation in the Group One three-year-old event, including Mohawk Brave as well as Imperatriz, On The Bubbles, I Wish I Win and Zeitaku.

Imperatriz (McNab) and On The Bubbles (Parmar) went together over 1000m in 1:04.8 and 36.5, while in solo gallops over the same ground, I Wish I Win (McNab) returned 1:06.7 and 38.7, and Zeitaku (McNab) 1:09.7 and 38.2.

Oaks runner Belle En Rouge (T Harris) was paired with NZ St Leger candidate Leaderboard (Khan) over 1200m in 1:19.8, 1:04.2 and 37.6. Les Crayeres (Lammas), who runs in the Cuddle Sakes at Trentham, was accompanied by Ardour (Newman) over 1200m in 1:18.8, 1:03.6 and 37.6.

Two more the Oaks, Aspen Colorado (C Grylls) and Another Bella (Lammas), covered 1200m in 1:19.2, with the last 1000m in 1:04.4 and 600m in 37.2. Top Brass (Parmar) and Summer Monsoon (Khan) were paired in smart work ahead of the feature sprint at Trentham, cutting out 1000m in 1:03.2 and 35.8.

Annaliese (Newman) turned in a sound trial for the Rating 65 1400 at Tauranga on Saturday when running 1000m in 1:03.6 and 36.7. Excellerina (Crawford-Smith) and Landry (Newman) also did well over the same trip in 1:03.4 and 36, while Rockspell (C Grylls) returned 1:03.2 and 36.4, Elettrica (B Grylls) 1:03.5 and 36.4 and Fabe Dia (Leighton) 1:04 and 36.5.

Fast Willie (Kumagai) worked over ground, with his last 1200m in 1:20.2, 1:05.4 and 38.6. Aotea Lad (M Grylls) was timed over 1000m in 1:05.8 and 37.2, while Farrenc (Yanagida) was allowed an easy 1000m in 1:08 and 38.2.

On the No. 1 sand Cuddle Stakes candidate Mai Tai (Durrant) was keen in her work over 1000m in 1:03 and 36.5. Virtuoso Lad (Tynan) ran the same trip in 1:05.4 and 37.6, while Dyzee (Winter) managed the same assignment in 1:04.6, finishing off in a smart 36.8.
