Shoshone and Myrtle Creek looked on target for their Te Rapa weekend engagements when they turned in a smart gallop in company at Matamata on Tuesday morning.

Galloping right-handed 25 metres out on the heavy course proper, Shoshone (Lammas) and Myrtle Creek (Prastiyou) set off at a steady rate and built up momentum to run their last 600m in 38.8. Shoshone is a big improver from her recent fresh-up run, while Myrtle Creek is a chance taking a line through her slightly unlucky last-start effort.

Aero de Paris (Pratap), a rival for Shoshone in the Te Rapa open sprint, also caught the eye in solo work, timed over the final 600m in 38.6. Stablemates Two Madison (Kumagai) and Treasure State (Goodwin) got into their work on the way to completing it with a final section in 39.5.

Last-start Te Rapa winner Rose Crescent (Yanagida) and Catwalk Girl (Lammas) prepared for the weekend with sound work, setting off from the winning post to run 1200m in 1:28.2 and finishing off with 600m in 41.2. Te Rapa entry Angelica (Kareem) was paired with Bahia Emerald (S Singh) over 800m in 55.8 and 600m in 41.1.

Carmenere (S Weatherley) was travelling well at end of 600m with Mi Amigo (Miller) in 41.8. In similar work Son Of A Butcher (Farr) recorded 40, Rockspell (Kumagai) 39.9, Gimmeallyourlovin’ (Newman) and an unnamed El Roca (Yanagida) 41.5, Star Treasure (Farr) 40.1, Canny Man (Goodwin) 40.4, and Winexpress (Farr) 42.6.

On the No. 2 sand, Teen Titan (Sanson) was in impressive form as he got through 1200m in 1:19.8, with the last 1000m in 1:05.4 and hitting the line strongly with a final 600m in 36.6.

Seajetz (Prastiyou) looked fir for the step up to a middle-distance at Te Rapa when he strode out well, recording 1:07 and 38.4 over the last 1000m. Mrs Twinkletoe (R Cole) strode over ground, completing the last 1200m in 1:27.5, 1:12.7 and 40.8, while Magic Cannon (M Brosnan), another jumper heading to Te Rapa, got through long work well without being timed.
