Fashion Shoot and Karman Line shaped up well for Saturday’s New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes when working impressively together at Matamata on Tuesday morning.

Galloping 20 metres out on a soft course proper, Fashion Shoot (Kennedy) and Karman Line (Tynan) worked away from the 1200m mark to run the distance in 1:18, quickening for a final 1000m in 1:03.4 and finishing off strongly from the 600m in 36.2. It was excellent work by both mares and confirmed their fitness for the Ellerslie Group One.

Likely race rival Grail Seeker (Tynan) worked by herself over 1200m in 1:23.5, easing into her work over the last 1000m in 1:08.9 and 600m in 37.8. The Wexford Stables filly appears to have made good progress since her Wellington Guineas win and will be an interesting runner up against older opposition on the weekend.

Melbourne-bound Legarto (Elliot) and Ellerslie entry My Annie Belle (Turner) were paired in exceptional work against the rail in the 9.5 metre position, cutting out 1200m in 1:15.4, 1000m in 1:00.6 and the last 600m in 34.6. Legarto has done everything right since her Bonecrusher NZ Stakes second and was scheduled to be flown to Melbourne on Wednesday ahead of her clash with Mr Brightside and Pride Of Jenni in Saturday’s Australian Cup. My Annie Belle is in good order for Saturday’s three-year-old 1400.

Another from the Kelso stable, Jolted (Turner), did good stayer’s work in preparation for Ellerslie, striding over 1200m in 1:18.9, 1:04.5 and 38.2. Ellerslie entries Puketiro (Parmar) and She Turns Heads (Allen) cut out 1000m in 1:08.2 and 38.4, while Darci’s Angel (C Grylls) and Lovearoadie (S Singh) ran the same distance in 1:08.4 and 37.8.

Ellerslie entry Latrelle (Elliot) was paired with Secret Life (C Grylls) over 1000m in 1:08.2 and 38, while Dream of the Moon (Allen) and Rue De Rivoli (Parmar) were allowed an easy 1000m in 1:11.4 and 40.6.

Snazzytavi (Kennedy) looked well when cruising through her work, with the last 1200m in 1:29.2, 1:13 and 40.8. Waitak (P Singh) was well held over 1000m in 1:13.4 and 41.6. He continues to please in his preparation for The Quokka in Perth next month.

Stablemate Highlighter (Simma) did similar work when recording 1:13.5 and 41.6, while Permissive (C Grylls) caught the eye as she finished off her work with 800m in 53.5 and 600m in a dashing 36.5.
