Matamata Racing Club is on the lookout for a reliable, horse-loving early riser to join our team as a Gap Hut Attendant during our morning trackwork sessions. This is a unique and highly valued role within our training facility and opportunities like this don’t come around often. Our previous Attendant was in the role for nearly 23 years!

About the Role
You’ll be right in the thick of the morning action, capturing the movement of horses through the training facility and ensuring accurate records are logged into our custom-made online system. Your work plays a key part in keeping our operations running smoothly, supporting trainers and the wider racing community.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Recording the names of horses working through the track each morning
  • Entering data accurately into our online system
  • Supporting the smooth operation of trackwork sessions

What We’re Looking For

  • A genuine love of horses and the racing environment
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability
  • Someone who thrives in early starts and a structured routine
  • A positive attitude and willingness to be part of a tight-knit team

The Details
Start time: 4:15am 
Hours: Flexible/negotiable for the right person (how many days a week?)
Location: Matamata Racecourse
Applicants must be NZ residents and provide solid references
