To Bravery Born and Age Of Discovery looked ready for bold fresh-up runs this weekend when they galloped impressively at Matamata on Tuesday morning.
Working right-handed 18 metres out on the soft course proper, To Bravery Born (C Grylls) and Age Of Discovery (Bosson) set off at a steady pace, building momentum from the 1000m and timed to run their final 600m up the back straight in 37.9. To Bravery Born, a debut winner and then fourth in the Karaka Millions 2YO last season, kicks off his spring campaign in the three-year-old colts and geldings’ 1100 at Taupo on Sunday, while the year older Age Of Discovery heads to Ruakaka on Saturday with a trial win and a placing under his belt.
Stablemate In Haste (Bosson) prepared for the three-year-old fillies’ 1100 at Taupo with 600m in 40.8, while Taupo maiden entry Carsolio (C Grylls) followed in 40.9. Both have been shaping up well at the trials.
Ribkraka (Mool) and Reptak (Tynan) got through sound work ahead of the weekend when cutting out 1200m in 1:26.5 and 39.2. New Plymouth Saturday entry Vickezzlastcall (Danis) was paired with Balance Of Power (Pinn) over 1200m in 1:22.5 and 39.1, while Jakama Krystal (P Brosnan) prepared for her steeplechase assignment at Woodville on Sunday with 1200m in 1:24.8 and 41.5.
Waitak (C Grylls) looked bright in solo work, the last 600m in 40.6. He will continue his Proisir Plate preparation with a trial at Taupo on Sunday. Knowledge Is Power (C Grylls) and Cool ’N’ Fast Bosson) completed their work with 600m in 38.2.
On the No. 1 sand, Santa Catalina (Harris) and Don Pauly (Turner) were paired in smart work over 1000m in 1:04.1, the last 600m in 36.5. Another pair from the McKay stable, Faultless (S McKay) and Los Santos (Harris), got through similar work in 1:05.8 and 36.9. Faultless completed his two-year-old campaign with a win at Trentham in the autumn and is in forward condition for his resuming run at Taupo on Sunday.
Zacabasso (Wratten) and Lady Grey (Butler) prepared for Taupo with 1000m in 1:05.4 and 37.9, while Cleat (Olney) was given a light task ahead of his Ruakaka weekend assignment with 800m in 54.5 and 38.9. Taupo entry Grace ’N’ Glory (M Brosnan) strode over 1200m in 1:22.5, 1:06.4 and 39.8.
Wolfgang (S McKay) and Giacomo (Fawcett) got through a tidy 1000m in 1:06.8 and 37.5. In easy work over the same distance, Hostility (Bosson) recorded 1:10.5 and 41.2, Hakkinen (C Grylls) took 1:10.8 and 41.4, Vendabelle (Turner) 1:12.8 and 41.8, and Thumbelina (C Grylls) and Glam Award (L Singh) 1:12.6 and 38.6.
On the plough, Ruakaka entry Phantom Dragon (Parmar) was unextended over 1000m in 1:11.5 and 41.2. Four Square Pete (Turner) had more speed on over the same ground in 1:05.5 and 38.7, while Tiago (C Grylls) returned 1:08.2 and 39.
Renovations (Harris) breezed in from the 800m in 59 and 42.8, and stablemate Part Time Lover (S Collett) was likewise allowed an easy time over 1000m in 1:13.2 and 42.2.
