Caitlyns Wish and Loch Katrine were in good form at Matamata on Tuesday morning as they prepared for Sunday’s Te Rapa meeting.

Galloping right-handed 25 metres out on the heavy course proper, Caitlyns Wish (Sanson) and Loch Katrine (Hyde-Richards) worked over 1000m and were timed for their last 600m in a smart 37.7. The Stephen Autridge-trained pair have solid form credentials on the Te Rapa track, especially when the going is heavy.

Another in that category is Sassy Lass (Farr), who prepared for her return to racing in the open 1600m at Te Rapa with sound work over 1200m in 1:28.4, the last 600m in 41.4. The talented stayer holds a nomination for the Livamol Classic.

Stablemate Jaffira (Tynan) also worked over ground, recording 1:27.4 for 1200m and 42.1 for the last 600m. He is also a past winner at Te Rapa and is entered for the Rating 65 1600m on Sunday.

Viva Glam (Melvin) and Marokopa Falls (Hassman) prepared for their respective engagements at Matamata Friday and Te Rapa with a final 600m in 38.5. Marokopa Falls, a winner and stakes-placed at two, returns to competition on Sunday.

Luvabeel (Danis) was paired with Litteral (Fawcett), running their final 600m in 39.2, while Fury Of Flight (Bosson) and High Roller (Cooper) did similar work to record 38.7. Fury Of Flight showed promise in a light juvenile campaign and has shown up well at the trials ahead of his return at New Plymouth on Saturday.

Te Rapa maiden candidate Sadhbh (Reid) shaped up well when working with Matamata entry Lady Janice (S Collett), cutting out their last 600m in 39.8. Smart Love (Farr) and Woman In Charge (L Singh) weren’t after time as they completed their work with 600m in 42.5, while Ribkraka (P Singh) and Crackercol (Tynan) returned 41.7.

Te Atatu Dream (Farr) got through solid work over ground, recording 1:28.5 for 1200m and 43.2 for her final 600m. She has trained on well since returning to form at Taupo last month.

Papparazzi (Rastrick), who steps up to a more suitable distance at Matamata, was timed over his last 600m in 40.7, while stablemates Aspiritta (Dellow) and Kazkaz (Nishizuka) took 39.2.

Matamata rivals Curzon Park (Holliday) and Marzenie (Fawcett) were timed over their final 600m in 39.2. Curzon Park looks a big improver from his first-up fourth.

On the No. 2 sand, Channel Surfer (Wratten) and Zacabasso (Butler) prepared for their respective Te Rapa and Matamata assignments with 1000m in 1:07 and 38.4.

On the No. 1 sand Lady Grey (Wratten) and Chante Moi (Holliday) shaped up well with 1000m in 1:03.2 and 37, while Gosbo (Romero) and Misellabel (Butler) were timed from the 800m in 51.2 and 37.5.
