Gold Trail Stakes winner Lollapalooza confirmed her readiness for Saturday’s Sunline Vase when she worked soundly at Matamata on Wednesday morning.
Galloping left-handed 18 metres out on the heavy course proper, Lollapalooza had raceday rider Vinnie Colgan up when she and Chante Moi (Holliday) were sent over 1000m, completing their work with 600m in 39.
The Richardson/Norvall-trained filly left a massive impression in her Gold Trail Stakes win and will be a hot favourite to complete an Ellerslie stakes double on Saturday. Chante Moi resumes in the Rating 75 sprint at Ellerslie, having won on the track in the autumn.
On Tuesday morning, when course proper gallops took place left-handed 18 metres out, Sunline Vase entries Queen's Evidence (Bosson) and Too Sweet (C Grylls) strode over 1000m in 1:06.3, home in 38.6.
Queen’s Evidence appears to have made good progress since her fresh-up third in the Gold Trail Stakes, while Awapuni visitor Too Sweet, who finished one place behind in the Gold Trail, only needs a decent draw on Saturday for a better result.
Reptak (P Singh) prepared for the Rating 75 sprint at Ellerslie with a solo gallop over 1000m in 1:08.2, which he completed with 600m in 39.1. Te Aroha Friday candidate Te Atatu Memphis (Tynan) worked over ground and was timed from the 1200m in 1:27.8 and 600m in 41.6.
Celestial Wonder (Danis) and Captured By Love (Bosson) galloped over 1000m in 1:07.7, the last 600 in 39.3. Celestial Wonder is another in the R75 sprint, while Captured By Love takes strong trial form into her fresh-up run in Saturday’s open 1400m.
Race rival My Lips Are Sealed (C Grylls) was sent 1000m in 1:06.7, last 600 in 38.1. She also kicks off a new campaign with the benefit of three lead-up trials. Recent trial winner Trobriand (Hassman) worked over 1000 metres in 1:07, the last 600 in a sound 38.4.
Ellerslie maiden entries Avantaggia (Bosson) and Fury Of Flight (C Grylls) ran a sound 1000m in 1:06.4 and 39.1. Avantaggia is the Wootton Bassett daughter of former Te Akau star Avantage and has won her last three rials, while Zoustar colt Fury Of Flight has the benefit of two useful efforts in his first preparation.
Ellerslie Rating 75 1600 rivals Family Ties (Hassman) and War Of Succession (Smith-Chaston) were sent an easy 1200m in 1:25.8, quickening for a final 600m in 40.4.
