MATAMATA
Heavy fog blanketed the Matamata track throughout Tuesday morning’s training session, however without being timed a number of horses with upcoming engagements still appeared to shape up well on the course proper.
Wanganui Guineas candidate Out Of The Blue had raceday jockey Masa Hashizume in the saddle when he worked with Asturia (Bosson), finishing off strongly and followed to the line by Uptown (Wilson-Taylor).
Out Of The Blue won two of his juvenile starts as well as being stakes placed twice and kicked up his spring campaign with a close fourth at Taupo last week. Recent trial winner Asturia is entered for both Wanganui and Te Aroha this weekend, as is Uptown, a Savabeel mare from the Walker/Bergerson team, who won her final start of a light three-year-old campaign.
Force Of Law (E Jones) and Niccita (Parmar) completed solid work in good style. Force Of Law lines up again this Friday on the Cambridge synthetic, where he has finished third in his last two starts. Niccita, a Nicconi filly with Pam Gerard, will be an interesting runner at Riccarton Saturday.
Te Aroha maiden 1400m entries Papparazzi (E Jones) and Divider (Parmar) looked well matched as they finished their hitout together. Purosangue (Loki) worked on his won over 1000m in preparation for the Rating 75 1100 at Te Aroha. He is coming up well for his spring campaign.
