Dream All Day has a fair way to go to reach the lofty heights of her full-sister Atishu, but trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr are upbeat about her future.
Atishu took New Zealand syndicator Go Racing on the ride of a lifetime, winning three Group Ones and nearly A$6 million in prizemoney before being purchased at the Magic Millions’ Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale last week by Yulong Investments for A$2.7 million.
Breeder Waikato Stud retained Dream All Day, who has impressed on the race track herself, winning two and placing in five of her seven career starts to date, and a topflight middle-distance future is being tipped for the four-year-old daughter of Savabeel.
“We have done a speed gene DNA test on her, and she came up a TT, which is what makes her exciting in my opinion,” Kent Jnr told Racing.com.
“It means she’s bred to get 2000 and 2400m, so with that turn of foot and class, she might be a nice addition to the stable.
“She has a fantastic pedigree as she’s a full sister to Atishu and the dam has left another stakes winner (Mazzolino), so she’s got a really good record of producing stakes-class fillies. We’d love to add to that with this girl.
“We are big buyers of New Zealand horses in general, but we buy a lot of horses from Waikato, so we’re very fortunate they have us this nice filly to train.”
Her trainers have taken a patient approach with the mare and are starting to see that pay dividends on the track.
“She’s a funny one,” Kent Jnr said, “It you’d pushed her at two, you would have got nowhere. She was all legs and never had a proper action.
“It just shows what waiting for one can do. She came back this prep a totally different horse. She’s developed a turn of foot and should just keep improving.”
Dream All Day will look to add to her record this weekend when she heads to Flemington to contest the Country Racing As Real As It Gets Plate (1400m).
